Centre Relocation Updates

Details About Our Upcoming Plans

With Term 2 upcoming, it’s important to keep you informed about a significant development that will affect the location of our weekly classes at The Pique Lab.

As you might be aware, Serene Centre, where some of our classes are currently conducted, has been sold and is scheduled for renovation.

In light of these circumstances beyond our control, we are currently in the process of targeting a move to GR.iD Mall from Term 3 (i.e., 1 July 2024) onwards for all classes, including those conducted at both Serene Centre and Crown Centre. We will keep you updated once the details are finalised.

By consolidating our classes at a single location, we can centralise our resources, which will allow us to provide a more consistent and enhanced learning experience for all students. The new location at GR.iD Mall is strategically chosen for its accessibility and is part of our commitment to convenience for our students.

Based on the latest discussion with the new building management of Serene Centre, classes can continue as scheduled at the existing venues and time slots for Term 2 (April to June 2024):

  • For Students Attending Onsite Weekly Classes With Us:
    • If the ongoing renovation works at Serene Centre impact our ability to conduct lessons as planned, we will promptly communicate any changes to you.
    • Following which, the classes are expected to take place at the same time slots at the new location from 1 July 2024 onwards.
  • For Students Attending Digital Classes With Us: No changes are expected, unless arranging a class transfer or a replacement lesson in an Onsite/Hybrid Class.

In the meantime, we are committed to continuing our classes as scheduled for Term 2 (April to June 2024). If the ongoing renovation works at Serene Centre impact our ability to conduct lessons as planned, we will promptly communicate any changes to you.

We understand that there may be inconveniences brought by these challenges, and we appreciate your understanding and support during this transitional period.

Please rest assured that our students’ learning journey remains a top priority, and we strive to use this opportunity to create a better and improved learning experience for all.

    About The Shift

Why is The Pique Lab moving its classes?

Due to the unforeseen sale and upcoming renovation of Serene Centre, we find ourselves in a position where relocating is our best option to ensure uninterrupted classes for our students.

Why can't my class be moved to Crown Centre?

We are currently operating at nearly maximum capacity at Crown Centre and unfortunately do not have the additional space required to accommodate more classes. Additionally, in the interest of streamlining our operations and ensuring all students benefit from the same high-quality learning environment, we have made the difficult decision to relocate all classes from Crown Centre to GR.iD Mall as well.

This move, driven by our commitment to provide the best possible educational experience, will allow us to utilise enhanced facilities and resources more efficiently for the benefit of all our students.

Why are you moving Crown Centre classes also since it remains unaffected by the renovations?

The decision to move classes from Crown Centre, despite it not being directly affected, stems from our broader strategic considerations.

Consolidating at GR.iD Mall allows us to centralise our resources and offer a unified, enhanced learning environment for all students. While this move is born out of necessity, we are focused on turning it into an opportunity for improvement.

    Class Schedule

Will the class schedules change with the move to GR.iD Mall?

At this stage, it is unlikely that there will be significant changes to the schedules of existing classes with our relocation.

We understand the importance of maintaining consistency for our students and their families. Should any adjustments become necessary, we will ensure to communicate these changes well in advance, keeping your convenience and planning needs in mind.

Can I switch to digital classes from Term 3 onwards?

Yes, you may request for a class transfer & our Customer Care team can advise you on the next steps.

    Venue Considerations

Is the move to GR.iD Mall confirmed?

The move to GR.iD Mall is currently our primary direction, pending final confirmations. We recognise the importance of stability and clarity for our students and families and are committed to finalising and sharing the details as soon as possible.

Did you consider leasing spaces around Bukit Timah (e.g. Cluny Court, King’s Arcade, Coronation Plaza, Link@896) or Holland Village?

Yes, we did! However, there are no viable units that we’re able to lease from these places at this point.

A primary factor in our decision-making process has been the challenge of finding spaces large enough to accommodate our specific needs. GR.iD Mall not only meets our size requirements but also offers convenient location accessibility. Our focus is now on ensuring a smooth transition to this new location and making the most of the opportunities it presents for our students and their learning journey.

Are you considering any other locations at this point?

We are not considering other locations at this point.

    GR.iD Mall

    Is there a pick-up/drop-off point at GR.iD?

Pick-up/drop-off can be managed either in the GR.iD carpark or at the Parklane Shopping Mall drop-off point adjacent to GR.iD.

We are planning to have waiting areas for students during our operating hours at our new location if they are early for their lessons or are waiting for their parents/guardians after lessons.

We advise parents, especially those with younger students, to escort their children to and from the centre to ensure their safety. We will provide a detailed walkthrough video closer to the date.

How many carpark lots are there in the mall?

There are approximately 130 carpark lots in the mall.

I've not heard of this mall. Are there any other enrichment & education centres in the building?

GAW Capital, a private equity fund management group acquired GR.iD mall. After a multi-million investment into a three-year renovation, GR.iD mall reopened its doors in 2022, featuring a vibrant mix of food, entertainment, and retail offerings tailored to youths.

There are a number of enrichment & education centres with classes catered to children in the same building, such as:

    • MADDspace (Music, Art, Drama & Dance)
    • O School (Dance)
    • GIG International School (Primary to IGCSE)

We’ll be preparing a walkthrough video to introduce the mall, pick-up points and walking routes from the MRT to you some time this week (11 March 2024 – 17 March 2024)! Stay tuned!

Can you show me how does the walk look like from the MRT?

Are there waiting areas for my child within the new Centre?

Yes! We’ll be zoning certain areas within the Centre as waiting areas for our students.

Parents and helpers can pick them up from these waiting areas at our Centre.
