During this 2-day content-packed programme, we’ll give a quick introduction to a series of Secondary 1 Mathematics concepts, so your child knows what to expect when he/she moves up to Secondary 1 next year.
Session 1
Learn How Simple Interest Rates Work
Your child will get a quick introduction to bank deposits and loans and how banks make money from these financial instruments. Next, we’ll show your child a step-by-step method on how to calculate simple interest rates. As an added bonus, we’ll also challenge your child to determine the best savings programme among banks by analysing and comparing interest rate returns.
Understand How Personal Income Tax Is Computed In Singapore
We’ll show your child how to interpret resident personal income tax rates on IRAS’ website and how tax reliefs can help to reduce the chargeable income of an individual. Once your child learns how to do it, he/she may even help you with your taxes in the future!
Discover How Hire Purchase Can Be Used To Finance Expenditure
We’ll teach your child all about hire purchase: how it works, the advantages and disadvantages of this financing method. Lastly, we’ll show your child how to compute the extra costs behind hire purchases.
Session 2
Get A Quick Introduction To Algebra
In primary school, students are taught how to solve problems using models. However, models are not necessarily the most efficient method to solve certain mathematical problems.
We’ll show your child how algebra works and how to use it to break down a mathematical problem quickly. We’ll also dive deeper into manipulating simple algebraic equations systematically using different solving methods.
Trust us: Once your child gets a hang of it, he/she will be solving complex algebraic problems in no time.
By the way, your child will NOT leave this workshop empty-handed.
Not only will our Secondary Math Specialist take your child through the step-by-step process of a variety of mathematical problems, we’ll also provide your child with beautifully-illustrated notes, worksheets and worked examples that are designed to help him/her learn these Math concepts easier, better and faster.
