font-family: geomanist-bold;\">Background<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are 2 containers that are packed with piping hot rice and one of the containers, container G, has holes on the lid. After some time, Rizwan\u00a0realised that:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The rice in container G became cooler than the rice in Container F.<\/li>\n<li>There are water droplets formed on the inside of Container F.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #d00031; font-family: geomanist-bold;\">What Your Child Needs To Know<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are a total of seven heat processes, namely:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Evaporation<\/li>\n<li>Melting<\/li>\n<li>Condensation<\/li>\n<li>Freezing<\/li>\n<li>Boiling<\/li>\n<li>Expansion<\/li>\n<li>Contraction<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #d00031; font-family: geomanist-bold;\">Template Answer<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are two important things to note when it comes to answering Heat Energy questions:<\/p>\n<p>1) ______<em> <span style=\"color: #d00031;\">(cooler substance)<\/span> gains heat from ______ <span style=\"color: #d00031;\">(warmer substance)<\/span><\/em> <strong>or<\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0______ <span style=\"color: #d00031;\">(warmer substance)<\/span> loses heat to ______ <span style=\"color: #d00031;\">(cooler substance)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>2) to<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><em>____________ <span style=\"color: #d00031;\">(heat process)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>An example would be: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The puddle of water\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: geomanist-bold;\">gains heat from<\/span> the warmer surrounding air\u00a0to\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: geomanist-bold;\">evaporate&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #d00031; font-family: geomanist-bold;\">Answering Technique for Part (a)<\/span><\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The water vapour in the air in the containers<\/span> <strong>gained heat from<\/strong> the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hot rice<\/span> to <strong>become warmer<\/strong> and rises up. The holes on the lid of container G allows <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">some of the warmer water vapour<\/span> to <strong>escape more easily<\/strong> into the cooler surrounding air, thus causing the rice in container G to cool faster.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"font-family: geomanist-bold; color: #d00031;\">Misconception Alert:<\/span>\u00a0Heat cannot \u201cmove\u201d or \u201cescape\u201d on its own!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Instead, heat was lost to the air, causing the air\u00a0to move<\/li>\n<li>The air gains heat from the warmer object and in the process, removing some of the heat away from the object, causing its temperature to decrease.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: geomanist-bold;\">Note<\/span>: Question mentioned \u201c<strong>COOLER<\/strong>\u201d. Please remember to use <strong>COMPARISON<\/strong> terms in your answer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: geomanist-bold;\">Disclaimer:<\/span><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Students at the primary school level have not been taught about the concept of &#8220;radiation&#8221;, where heat can travel\/move without a medium.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #d00031; font-family: geomanist-bold;\">Answering Technique for Part (b)<\/span><\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The water vapour in the air in the containers<\/span> <strong>gained heat from<\/strong> the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hot rice<\/span> to <strong>become warmer<\/strong>, which then rises up and comes into contact with the <strong>cooler inner<\/strong> surface of the lid, <strong>loses heat<\/strong> to it and <strong>condenses<\/strong> to form water droplets.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #d00031;
